The second week of September was an interesting week with lots of exciting components being launched for various high-speed differential applications, battery-driven IoT devices, and networking equipment applications. In this article, we’ll look towards the features and applications of devices like Smart Protection Switches, Common-mode Filters, Differential Oscillators, and DC/DC converters. These components suit a wide range of applications like wearable devices, smartphones, fiber optic transceiver modules, accelerator cards, smart NIC cards, asset tracking, indoor navigation, smart lighting, digital payments, robotics, drones, battery charging, and discharging, etc.

AOZ13984DI-02 and AOZ13987DI-02 Smart Protection Switches

New Type-C Power Delivery high voltage sink protection switches from Alpha and Omega Semiconductor use ideal diode methodology for reverse current protection. These switches offer low back-to-back MOSFETs to block any reverse current under fault conditions and are capable of up to 28V absolute maximum voltage. These smart protection switches in a single small thermally enhanced DFN package features Ideal Diode True Reverse Current Blocking (IDTRCB), allowing no reverse current at any conditions.

These devices are suitable for applications like Thunderbolt/USB Type-C PD power switches, Notebook computers, Docking station/dongles, and Power ORing.

TCM0403M Common-Mode Filters Series

The new TCM0403M Series of miniaturized thin-film common-mode filters from TDK Corporation reduce intruding noise and improve wireless signal reception sensitivity. This series features common-mode attenuation at 2.4GHz is 21dB, and 28dB at 5.0GHz, with a maximum current of 50mA. These common-mode filters are mountable in ultra-small spaces due to their compact size and 58% smaller footprint. 

These compact filters are designed for High-speed differential interfaces (USB, MIPI, HDMI, etc.) in mobile devices such as wearable devices, smartphones, and tablets. The mass production of the TCM0403M Series has started in August 2021.

ProXO+ Programmable TCXOs

The new ProXO+ Programmable TCXOs from Renesas Electronics Corporation delivers ±3ppm frequency stability from -40˚C to +85˚C temperature range and 135fs phase jitter performance. The products from this portfolio are available in an 8-pin plastic package (3.2 x 2.5 mm) and feature programmable frequencies up to 2.1GHz. The ProXO+ family can be combined with Renesas’ complementary clock buffers, power, and microcontroller offerings to create comprehensive solutions for a variety of applications, such as the Xilinx Kintex-7 Power and Timing, the CC-Link IE TSN, and the System on Module (SoM) Solution with RZ/G2E.

These differential oscillators are best suited for fiber optic transceiver modules, accelerator cards, smart NIC cards, and networking equipment applications.

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Module 

The small ultra-wideband (UWB) module from Murata combines elevated levels of accuracy and reliability with low-power and offers significant benefits over systems based around Wi-Fi/Bluetooth or GPS technology. The UWB module incorporating Qorvo ICs enables mounting areas to be reduced by around 75%. This resin-molded surface-mounted module with built-in Nordic MCU includes improved design flexibility and reduced product development time. This Module features excellent memory (256kB RAM and 1Mb Flash), a 3-axis sensor for motion detection, a deep sleep mode of 250nA, and the ability to operate in temperatures from −40°C to 85°C and at voltages from 2.5V to 3.6V.

This system-in-package module is Ideal for battery-driven IoT devices and the Type 2AB module makes light work of asset tracking, indoor navigation, smart lighting, digital payments, and such location applications as proximity device finding.

KUB4836EB(F)-10A(-RS) DC/DC Converters

The new KUB4836EB(F)-10A(-RS) 1/8 brick non-isolated buck-boost DC/DC converters from MORNSON meet the demand for adjustable output voltage and current. This DC/DC module has an ultra-wide input voltage range of 9-60V, an adjustable output current range of 0-10A, and an adjustable output voltage range of 0-60V. It features input under-voltage protection, output short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection

This product is compatible with multiple bus voltages of 12V, 24V, and 48V and can be used in applications such as robotics, drones, battery charging, and discharging, where we may encounter the problems of large output line loss, variation of the motor voltage and speed, switching of constant current and voltage.
