Microchip Technology Inc. has announced its new SA65 Chip Scale Atomic Clocks to provide precise timing accuracy and stability in extreme environments. The SA65 has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 80°C and a storage temperature range of -55°C to 105°C. These SA65 CSAC are beneficial for military applications such as Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (A-PNT) and command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C5ISR) requiring precise frequencies generated by a low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) atomic clock.
This CSAC features low power consumption of <120mW and a volume of <17cc. It provides RF and 1PPS outputs at standard CMOS levels, with short-term stability and maximum frequency change. The CSAC accepts a 1PPS input that may be used to synchronize the unit’s 1PPS output to an external reference clock with ±100ns accuracy.
