Intending to achieve higher efficiency and increased output power in a single surface-mounted TO263 7L package, ROHM has announced the BM2SC12xFP2-LBZ power ICs with integrated 1700V SiC MOSFET. The new Quasi-resonant AC/DC converters can provide utmost reliability to auxiliary power supplies used in street lamps, commercial air-conditioning systems, general-purpose inverters, and AC servos drives.

The new device minimizes the requirement of the heatsink and promotes increased efficiency (up to 5% more), shortened design timing, simplified circuit design, and reduction in additional components. The device enables automatic board mounting when it is used with 400VAC 48W output auxiliary power supplies, this helps in reducing the number of external parts when compared with the standard configurations.

Users can leverage the BM2SC123FP2-EVK-001 evaluation board that uses the AC/DC BM2SC123FP2-LBZ IC. The board can deliver power up to 48W at 400VAC without any heatsink. The test result of the evaluation board shows the output voltage (24V) is constant and independent from the input voltage.
