Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its IHLE series of low profile, high current inductors with two new devices IHLE-2020CD-51 and IHLE-2020CD-5A in the 5mm by 5mm by 3.4mm 2020 case size that feature integrated E-field shields for the reduction of EMI. These new commercial and automotive grade devices are optimized for energy storage in DC/DC converters up to 3 MHz and provide excellent attenuation of noise in high current filtering applications up to the SRF of the inductor.

Featuring high-temperature operation to +155°C and coplanarity of their four terminals within ≤ 100 µm, these devices contain the electric and B field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield, providing up to -20 dB of electric field reduction at 1 cm when the integrated shield is connected to ground.

Features

  • High temperature, continuous operation up to 155°C

  • Patented shielded construction

  • Excellent DC/DC energy storage up to 2 MHz

  • Filter inductor applications up the SRF (see standard electrical specifications table)

  • Integrated E-Field shield eliminates the need for separate shielding

  • Up to 20 dB E-Field reduction at 1 cm - Measured vertically from top center of device

  • B-Field is contained by powdered iron encapsulation

  • Low DCR/μH

  • Handles high transient current spikes without saturation

  • AEC-Q200 qualified

Applications for the IHLE-2020CD-51 will include servers and desktop PCs; notebooks; high current POL converters; low profile, high current power supplies; FPGAs; and battery-powered devices. The AEC-Q200 qualified IHLE-2020CD-5A will be used in automotive engine and transmission control units; entertainment/navigation systems; LED drivers; instrumentation panels; ADAS devices/sensors; and noise suppression for PWM-controlled motors.
